Terms and conditions regarding registration for Musikwoche 2024

Dates

Registration for Musikwoche will close on December 1, 2024, and unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate any on-the-day registrations.

Musikwoche begins on December 7, 2024. Children will need to collect their name tags between 10:00 and 13:00, followed by the opening ceremony at 13:00. 

​

Rehearsals will commence at 14:00 on the same day, so all participants should bring their instruments and music stands. The duration of the rehearsal will be approximately 3 hours. 

​

The event concludes on December 15, 2024, with a church service. Please note that all students are required to attend the final concerts on December 13 and 14.

Venue

The Swakopmunder Musikwoche takes place at the NAMIB PRIMARY SCHOOL, Swakopmund, where we also have our concerts.

Price

Each participant pays a registration fee of N$100. Donations are welcome!

Please register as soon as possible and don’t wait for the last minute. Registrations are only finalized once payment is received in full.

Who can register

Anyone between 9 and 26. You should have an interest in music and play an instrument.
As we want to go back to the roots of Musikwoche, we will therefore only cater for children and the youth with a Youth Orchestra and possibly applicable Ensembles.

 

Please be advised that we do not offer Piano and / or Guitar lessons.

Schedule for the duration of Musikwoche

Musikwoche begins on December 7, 2024. Children will need to collect their name tags between 10:00 and 13:00, followed by the opening ceremony at 13:00. 

 

Rehearsals will commence at 14:00 on the same day, so all participants should bring their instruments and music stands. The duration of the rehearsal will be approximately 3 hours. 


The Daily Schedule will be as follows:

  • 9h00 – 10h30: Rehearsal

  • 10h30 – 11h00: Snack Break. The children get a free jam bread.

  • 11h00 – 12h00: Rehearsal

  • 14h00 – 15h30: Rehearsal

Dress rehearsals will take place on Friday 13 December 2024 during the official Rehearsal hours.
Musikwoche concerts will take place on 13 and 14 December 2024.

Musikwoche will conclude on 15 December 2024 at the Church service in the German Evangelican Lutheran church starting at 10:00. 

Expectations

  • Participants to bring their own instrument and music stand.

  • Participants need to attend the opening ceremony, as important information is shared there.

  • Once registered, participants are requested to notify the Musikwoche immediately, if they are not able to attend the Musikwoche, as lecturers prepare the music selections with consideration of registered instruments and abilities.

  • Participants are required to commit to attend all rehearsals and concerts as scheduled. We will do our utmost to inform participants in time of any changes.

  • Once Musikwoche commences, participants are expected to notify their lecturer immediately if they are unable to attend a rehearsal or are withdrawing from the program. Registration fees cannot be refunded after the start of Musikwoche.

  • Participants will adhere to the instructions of their Lecturers, the Musikwoche Organisers and the stage crew.

  • The Musikwoche will not be held responsible for loss or damage to private Property or injury to persons on the premises.

  • Participants are responsible to treat all property of the Musikwoche and its rehearsal and performance premises with great care.

  • During rehearsals, participants are allowed to wear casual wear, but for public performances they are expected to wear black and white.

  • Participants are not permitted backstage, unless authorized by the Stage Manager.

  • Participants agree to the Musikwoche Organisers taking photographs and videos during the Musikwoche for publishing on the website or in publications for promotional purposes.

  • The Musikwoche Committee is not responsible to arrange Transport, Accommodation and /or meals for participants.
